Zero Sympathy For Gaza

There are any number of blunt ways I can put this. I could use old sayings and expressions like "let sleeping dogs lie." I could use song quotes from Toby Keith like "...this big dog will fight when you rattle his cage." Or I could simply put it like this: Hamas is a terrorist organization that has been indiscriminately firing missiles at Israeli civilians for years, and their day of reckoning has come.

You can say what you want about how big mean Israel and the U.S. have been marginalizing Palestinians. You can recite the far left agenda of "Free Palestine" and all this crap. The fact of the matter is, Israel is a sovereign state, and its government has the right and responsibility to defend its people. End of story.

I heard someone on the radio put it this way (just paraphrasing): "If there was a small foreign enclave in America that was launching rockets and mortars at our citizens, how do you think we would respond? Or for that matter, how do you think any country would respond?

What if a radical Mexican enclave (just a hypothetical... calm down) in the desert East of Palm Springs decided to begin ruling themselves autonomously and began shooting long range artillery at Los Angeles? Would we stand for it? Would wacked out liberal Americans take to the streets in protest if we put down these indiscriminate acts of terror in a show of force?

The double standard applied to the Israel-Gaza dynamic by the left is appalling. Some of these nuts are clogging up traffic, and holding demonstrations on the Golden Gate Bridge against Israeli retaliation. It's the same old, same old for these loons. Two wrongs don't make a right, Kumbaya Politics (my term again), yada, yada, yada.

It's just total hypocrisy. It's perfectly acceptable to the far left for an Iranian-funded terrorist organization to kill innocent civilians, but it's not okay for a legitimate country with a legitimate government to fight back.

Kinda like how "progressives" are the open-minded ones unless you disagree with them.

It's as if people think Israel enjoys living in a warzone. As if all Jews somehow derive endless joy and pleasure from seeing Palestinians blown up and living in squalor. It's just so incorrect and asinine.

Israel aggressively defends itself because it has to; their survival as a state and as a people depends on it.

The reality is that Hamas has been poking Israel with a long pointy stick from the Gaza Strip and the Israelis are done playing games and turning the other cheek. It appears as though a land invasion into Palestinian territory may be next. I wish it didn't have to come to that. If indeed that is next, there will most likely be a disturbing loss of life and more collateral damage.

What did Hamas expect though? Did they expect all the Jews to just pack up their things and reverse-diasporize all over the world? The only thing Hamas is accomplishing by provoking Israel is ripping open the festering wounds of hate and violence that it promotes on a daily basis.

That is what Hamas stands for after all. Hate and violence.

The Palestinian people elected these warmongers and now must live with their choice. If their homes and families are being destroyed and they lack basic necessities, they need to hold Hamas accountable.

I disagree with pretty much this entire post. Sure, Israel doesn't have to just sit there and be bombarded with rockets but the amount dead (especially in respect to % of populations) is very lopsided.

Fair enough. It is true that the percentages are skewed... but that's going to be the case when a military power retaliates against a ragtag group of militias that hide behind women and children. It may seem like total overkill (pardon the pun), but that's just the way it is. These militants provoked the Israelis, and they responded. Israel is saying, "Look, knock it off, or we're going to kick your ass."

It's ugly for sure...
